Tried several versions of driver. They all give the same error. Currently I refer to jdbc6.jar but I tried all possible versions from here: www.oracle.com/.../jdbc-112010-090769.html From SELECT * FROM V$VERSION Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production under Ubuntu I was unable to connect using Toad for Eclipse.
