I have two computers. The first computer has both real TOAD and Eclipse, with the TOAD extension also loaded. The second computer only has Eclipse and the TOAD extension also loaded. On the first computer I can get the list of all the procedures in a specific schema using Real TOAD in <2 seconds. Attempting to load the same list of procedures from the same schema using Eclipse/TOAD Extension has been "loading" for over 15 minutes, with no procedures visible yet. I also notice that it takes minutes for the Eclipse/TOAD Extension to load Constraints for a Table, or the Functions. I am getting the same very slow behavior with the second computer, which is connected to a different Oracle database, but it contains the same schema (list of procedures never displayed). In both copies of Eclipse/TOAD Extension I have all of my DB connection performance set to "Load Database Object On Demand". When I didn't have that set, my connections would time out before I got anything, including just the columns in one table. Is there some configuration setting that can be modified to improve the Eclipse/TOAD Extension performance? Note: In both cases I am connecting to the different databases over a VPN. I am running on Eclipse Luna and JRE 1.8 on machine which also has real TOAD, and I'm running Eclipse Mars with JRE 1.7 on the second machine.
